icon 04 Jul 2013
The Civil Service Bureau with the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia, within the project EU-Georgia E-Governance Facility, organised a training course on e-governance-related issues.

The opening session of the training was attended by the head of the EU's E-Government Programme, Mr Philippe Bernhard, Head of the Civil Service Bureau, Mr Irakli Kotetishvili and the Project Team Leader, Mr Kostas Drakas. In their welcome speech they addressed the participants and stressed the importance of e-governance-related training, particularly in the active phase of e-governance project implementation in civil service. Since 2009, the Civil Service Bureau has actively worked on these issues and has implemented several successful projects on e-governance in civil service such as a web-platform for competitions in civil service (www.hr.gov.ge) and the Online Asset Declaration System for officials (www.declaration.gov.ge).

The training was conducted by experts from the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information, who have extensive experience in e-governance issues. Within the training participants were introduced to important e-governance related topics including:
• Ethics in electronic governance and protection of personal data;
• E-governance strategy formulation and project management;
• Freedom of information and proactive disclosure of information.

Within the project
150 civil servants will be trained. We hope that such events will strengthen the civil service and promote effective e-governance in Georgia.
