The Public Financial Disclosure System, managed by the Civil Service Bureau of Georgia, recently won the prestigious UN Public Service Award in the category of ‘Preventing and combating corruption in public service’. The Head of Civil Service Bureau of Georgia, Irakli Kotetishvili, attended the award ceremony held in Manama, Bahrain on June 27.

At the presentation Irakli Kotetishvili underlined the importance of the award for Georgia and once again thanked Transparency International Georgia and the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information for their on-going support throughout the nomination process. The Head of Transparency International Georgia, Eka Gigauri, and the Head of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information, Giorgi Kldiashvili, also addressed the public with regards to the award. They underlined the importance of a well-managed and transparent asset declaration system and congratulated Georgia for its achievement and success.

The Public Financial Disclosure System has been in place in Georgia since 2010. The system simplifies access to the financial disclosure documents of public officials for any interested individual or parties. It is a strong tool in the prevention of corruption in the public service and facilitates the on-going process of maintaining an efficient, transparent government.
